Active Medical services during COVID – commonly asked questions

Is Active Medical still OPEN every day of the year including lockdowns?

Yes. We are open every day of the year including weekends and public holidays. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday ‪8‪am to 8pm, Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays ‪9am ‪to 4pm. As we are a health service, we will maintain our opening hours even during lock downs and staged restrictions.

Why can’t I get through on the phone lines at Active Medical sometimes?

We are open and taking calls during all our opening hours. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant an increase in requests and services now happening over the phone, which has congested our phone system. Please be patient if you cannot get through or are on hold for some time. Alternatively you can try to phone again at a later time of day. If your call is for an appointment, we recommend securing the first available booking online until you are able to speak with one of our team members.

Why am I finding it difficult to get an appointment to see my doctor?

COVID has created a greater demand on medical services and health care providers. All of our doctors are working very hard to see as many patients as possible. This has meant that doctors are often fully booked on the day. Consider pre planning and booking in advance for any non-urgent medical care when possible. This will ensure you have an appointment secured to address your health needs. For anything unexpected please phone the clinic to see how we can help you.

Why am I waiting for my appointment if there’s no one in the room seeing my doctor?

Doctors are following an appointment schedule, which includes face to face and Telehealth appointments. Your doctor will attend to appointments according to the order they have been booked, with the exception of emergencies. This would mean that a Telehealth patient who you cannot see in the waiting room or in the doctors room might be in consultation or awaiting their allotted time slot from home.

What is Active Medical doing to improve their service?

  • From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adapted our services, increased safety protocols and invested in equipment to ensure patient health and safety remains our top priority.
  • We are expanding the practice to add an additional seven rooms and upgrading all existing rooms.
  • We have upgraded the phone system to include an additional ten phone lines.
  • We have increased our team with additional Doctors, Nurses and Administration staff and are continually working on recruiting more.
