Yay, it’s our birthday and a great time to take a look at what we’ve achieved so far.

 

November 2014

24th of November 2014 – Active Medical Centre Caroline Springs opens from the legacy created at a small practice called Copernicus Medical in Keilor Downs to achieve the core mission of principal GP Dr Victor Sammut; ‘To provide uncompromising health care to even more people”.

Opens with 5 doctors, a psychologist and a dietitian

December 2014

Shared maternity care with a female practitioner is available at Active Medical Centre

Active Medical Centre adds travel medicine to list of available services and becomes accredited to stock and supply Yellow Fever vaccination  

January 2015

ActiveMedicalCentre.com.au launches, making it even easier for patients to access information and Active Medical Centre New Patient Registration forms

Dorevitch Pathology opens collection centre at Active Medical Centre and provides pathology services every weekday from 8:30am to 11:30am

Podiatrist is introduced at Active Medical Centre

Diabetes Educator begins at Active Medical Centre

February 2015

21st of February 2015 – The Active Medical team pitch a marquee at Summersault Festival 2015 and hand out 500 goodie bags, 600 water bottles as well as caps and prizes and provide shade, health checks, kids fun and sun screen to hundreds of Caroline Springs residents on 40 degree scorcher.

Through out the month of February; bulk billed skin checks provided to all patients to increase awareness of skin health, provide checks and removal of trouble spots and prevent skin cancer numbers

March 2015

7th of March 2015 – The Active Medical team hold a stall at the Western Bulldog’s Son’s of the west ‘Men’s health’ expo 2015 held at the Quest apartments and offer men’s health checks while giving away prizes and goodie bags containing water bottles, caps and helpful information.

Through out the month of March; bulk billed health checks provided to men to enable better access to health services and preventative health management for men  

14th of March 2015 – The Active Medical team including psychologist hold a stall at the Pregnancy and baby expo 2015 held at the Quest apartments and provides prizes and goodie bags containing water bottles, caps and helpful information such as Active Medical Centre Caroline Springs – Self testing for depression during pregnancy and post natal period  

April 2015

Through out the month of April; bulk billed health checks provided to women to enable better access to health services and preventative health management for women

May 2015

Active Medical Centre selected as an intervention practice in Melbourne University Ways of Thinking, Ways of Doing cultural awareness and respect training program

June 2015

‘Walk in’ Pap Screen clinic initiative started every Thursday to enable greater access to convenient health services for women.

July 2015

14th and 15th of July 2015 – MeasureUp van available in Active Medical Centre car park to provide patients with Bone Density scan 

‘Walk in’ Immunisation clinic initiative started every Tuesday to enable greater access to convenient health services for parents with children.

August 2015

Active Medical Centre looks to provide service to even more patients and changes to bulk billing GP consultations for all patients

Australian Hearing begins providing quarterly hearing tests for eligible patients at Active Medical Centre 

September 2015

Clinical Psychologist; specialising in children and adolescents, joins Active Medical Centre

November 2015

20th of November 2015 – Active Medical Centre hold an Indigenous women’s health day with funding from Pap Screen Victoria and support from the Melbourne University Ways of Thinking, Ways of Doing cultural awareness training program, Breast Screen Victoria, Australian Hearing and Djerriwarrh Community health service. Active Medical Centre acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land where the centre stands and pays respect to elders both past and present and is honoured with a Welcome to country by Aboriginal elder Aunty Dianne Kerr. Original artwork by Wurund-jeri artist Judy Nicholson is unveiled to represent Active Medical’s commitment to women’s health and the local indigenous community.

Active Medical Centre team support two public screenings of ‘That Sugar Film’ organised by Taylor’s Hill Neighbourhood house and Melton City Council and attended with dietitian to answer questions and help demystify common beliefs about sugar consumption and diet.

24th of November 2015 – Active Medical Centre turns one year old and acknowledges the warmth and support of Caroline Springs residents.
