Active Medical’s doctors have seen pre-cancerous skin lesions occur in patients from varying age groups. Quite often in areas of the body which can go unnoticed – which is why it is important to visit your GP for an annual skin check. Early detection can save lives.
What to expect during an annual skin check at Active Medical Centre
Your doctor will systematically check your skin and pay particular attention to any spots of concern, moles, blemishes or sun-damaged skin for irregularities. If necessary your doctor may take a closer look with a dermatoscope, take measurements and document size and shape of areas that need to be kept under review. If concerned, your doctor will photograph any suspicious lesions and in some cases discuss options for removal.
How long will it take?
In most cases a standard appointment with one of our doctors is all it will take to complete an annual skin check. If there are numerous spots or suspicious areas a long consultation is required.
How to stay safe in the sun:
- apply 30+ sunscreen
