Active Medical Bone Density Checks

What is Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a common disease affecting over 1 million Australians. This disease makes bones become brittle leading to a higher risk of breaks than in normal bones. Osteoporosis occurs when bones lose minerals, such as calcium, more quickly than the body can replace them, causing a loss of bone thickness (bone density or mass).

Do I need a bone density scan?

MeasureUp will work together with the GP’s at Active Medical Centre, Caroline Springs to focus on prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis. MeasureUp can determine if you have Osteoporosis or are at risk of developing it through a bone density scan.

MeasureUp is a mobile van that offers bulk billed bone density scans to Active Medical Centre’s eligible patients with a referral. The MeasureUp van is a modern and comfortable unit and will be parked in the car park at Active Medical Centre Caroline Springs Wednesday the 9th of August and Thursday the 10th of August 2017. It is equipped with a State-of-the-art DEXA densitometer that is operated by specially trained and certified staff. A bone density scan will help to diagnose or identify your risk of developing Osteoporosis and in turn help to minimise and prevent fractures and breakages of bones.

MeasureUp is dedicated to promoting lifelong bone health through public awareness, education and knowledge of osteoporosis. Click here for more information about MeasureUp.

If you would like to know more about Osteoporosis or to book in for a bone density scan, please speak to our team of GP’s and arrange for a referral. You can make an appointment by phone on 9363 0954 or online at any time.
